Albert Carriere
Albert Carriere was born on 11 March 1892 at Crysler Ontario, to Isidore Carriere and Louise (Lepage). He married Laura Noel on 25 November 1915 in Carleton, Ontario. Albert spent his entire 31 and a half year career in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, in Ottawa. Old family photos show that he loved fishing and hunting, a love which he passed onto to his son Gerald.

Reg. No. 9085 ex-Staff Sergeant Jean Baptiste Albert Carriere, 80, died Jan 22, 1973 at Ottawa, Ontario. He was born Mar 11, 1892 at Crysler Ontario, and joined the Dominion Police Jan 15, 1913 at Ottawa. He became a member of the RCMP Feb 1, 1920 at Ottawa when the DP were absorbed, and was promoted to corporal Feb 1, 1924, to sergeant Nov 1, 1913 and to staff sergeant Feb 1, 1939. He was invalided to pension after serving for almost 31½ years, and except for brief periods at Quebec City, Que. And Regina. Sask., all of his service was in A Division, Ottawa.

On Monday, January 22, 1973, Albert Carriere, beloved husband of the late Laura Noel, of 185 Carillon St., Vaniere; age 80; (Retired from R.C.M.P. since 1941); Member R.C.M.P. Veteran Association, Ottawa Division; dear father of Gerald, Vanier; Oscar, Hull; Reverend Sister Laurence Carriere; Daughters of Wisdom, Val D’Or; Mrs William Cyr (Lillianne), Touraine; Mrs Chales Younghusband (Therese), Ottawa; Mrs Simon Mousseau (Jeanne), Oakville; Mrs George Scott (Irene), Scarborough, also survived by 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Resting at Racine, Robert and Gauthier Funeral Home, 300 Olmstead St, Vanier. Funeral Thursday, January 25 to St Esprit Church for Funeral Mass at 10 am. Interment Notre Dame Cemetary Ottawa.

Mrs. Laura Noel Carriere, wife of Sgt. A Carriere of ‘A’ Division, R.C.M.P., died this morning at a local hospital following a short illness. She was in her 45th year. Born in Bay City, Michigan, she was a daughter of Mrs. Francis Noel and the late Mr. Noel. She resided for a number of years in Eau Claire, Wisconsin before coming to the Capital 23 years ago. She was a parishioner of Notre Dame de Lourdes church, Eastview, and was a member of the Ladies’ of St. Anne’s Society. Surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are four sons, Leandre, Wilfrid, Oscar, Gerald, all at home: five daughters, Sister Bernadette de l’Annonciation, of the Daughters of Wisdom, St Justine Hospital, Montreal, and the Misses Lillianne, Therese, Jeanne and Irene, all at home: one brother, Francis, of Port Huron, and six sisters, Mrs Percy Guertin, Mrs Frank Bonnie and Mrs H Hunt, Sarnia; Mrs Wilfrid Bess, Detroit; Mrs Joseph Harris, Petrolia Ontario, and Mrs H Carriere, Eastview. The funeral will take place from the family residence, 137 John Street, Eastview on Monday morning to Notre Dame de Lourdes church for service at eight o’clock. Burial will be in the Notre Dame cemetery.
